The Challenge
Launched in April 2022, Chippenham’s Business Cyber Centre represents a critical part of the SWLEP’s long-term plans, providing a world-class forum for businesses across the region to broaden their cyber capabilities and operational resilience through leading-edge training and cross-sector collaboration, ensuring they will be able to thrive in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Government funding requirements meant that the project must be completed within an extremely strict timeframe – with the presentation of the business case through to the official launch day spanning approximately 20 months. The space chosen to host the new Business Cyber Centre had been unoccupied for 18 months, but already came equipped with a large percentage of the required infrastructure – such as air conditioning and ceiling grids – which would help expedite the deployment process and minimise waste.
However, the supply and distribution of fibre across the new site was still a critical priority, for which SWLEP engaged Vysiion, following a robust tender process, where they were assessed on their technical capabilities, understanding of SWLEP’s security and compliance requirements – including their ability to provide an account team with the appropriate security clearances – and understanding of the project’s various commercial aspects.
