The implementation of the principles set out in this report will require a whole new approach to the design, implementation, and management of CNI systems and processes - one that embraces the ongoing convergence of IT and OT, the growing complexity of the threat landscape, and the CNI sector’s uniquely rigorous requirements when it comes to the resilience and availability of its services.
With this in mind, the increasingly stringent compliance requirements that OESs must now adhere to should be treated as a path towards establishing this new standard of best practice. With a whole new digital foundation in place, the sector will be well-placed to retain the trust of the general public, with critical services always available whenever and wherever they are required.
